Cementarnica Usje AD Skopje organized the first company “Open Day” on 15 September 2011, under the motto Responsibility-Partnership-Development and motivated by the obtainment of an A integrated ecological permit for uniformity with the operational plan that is issued by the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning. More than 5.000 individual invitations to citizens, neighbors, business partners, counterparts, representatives of the municipality, local schools and kinder gardens, as well as to public institutions officials were distributed, and a media announcement was published prior to the event.
This efforts of Cementarnica Usje were acknowledged by the Minister of Environment and Physical Planning, Abdulakim Ademi, who was present at the event and referring to the A integrated ecological permit used the occasion to state: “The process of obtaining the permit is long and requires continuous dialogue with the ministry, the community and the local authorities, as well as implementation of strict policies and procedures for environment protection. The example given by Cementarnica Usje AD Skopje should be followed by other Macedonian companies”.
On the same occasion, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kisela Voda, Marjan Gjorchev, reiterated his satisfaction with the established partnership between the municipality and Cementarnica Usje AD Skopje and the fact the he could witness this rare demonstration of true corporate responsibility. Mr. Boris Hrisafov, CEO of Cementarnica Usje AD Skopje, announced that since 1998, 62 million euros have been invested into the factory, out of which 42 million euros represent a direct investment into environment protection and improvements of the production process.
Over 900 people attended the “Open Day”. The visitors were able to see the production process by taking a tour of the factory, as well as receive more information about the company’s activities and goals in the areas of environment protection, employees’ health and safety and its partnership with the community. The citizens, neighbors, partners and counterparts, who were present at the event, spent pleasant time in an informal gathering accompanied with tasty food and refreshing drinks, while the youngest had the opportunity to enjoy themselves in the specially set up children’s corner. The content of the first company Open Day was enriched by the dancing performance by the children from the primary school “Partenija Zografski”, Kisela Voda. Also, all the schools from the Municipality participated by presenting children’s paintings at the exhibition organized for this occasion in the factory premises. Upon finishing the event, all the toys and other items used in the children’s corner will be donated in one of the kinder gardens located in the company’s neighborhood.
The organization of the “Open Day” is one of the activities implemented by Cementarnica Usje AD Skopje as a responsible partner and member of the community, in an effort to establish a continuous dialog with its customers, suppliers, neighbors, counterparts and business partners. With the event, the company provided yet another positive example for strengthening the relationships that will enable sustainable development of the community at large.
Most of the “Open Day” visitors (87%) expressed their satisfaction of the event and its organization, and provided a reason for the company to make an effort and make this event a company tradition.
