For everyone at Cementarnica USJE, caring for the environment is an area of great importance. The aspect of environmental protection is present in all production and business processes of the company. At the same time, Cementarnica USJE and its employees regularly implement and participate in a number of eco-initiatives and campaigns geared towards improving the environment. Many of these initiatives and actions are of a long-term nature. Some of them are described below.
GREENING AND TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGNS
The employees and members of the management team, with the company's support, regularly, every year, volunteer for independent tree planting campaigns at the cement plant or actively participate in national and local public area afforestation and landscaping initiatives in Skopje and beyond. For example, in 2018, during such an eco-campaign, USJE employees planted 1,200 new seedlings on the plant's grounds.
JOINING THE GLOBAL EARTH HOUR CAMPAIGN
Every year, Cementarnica USJE participates in the global Earth Hour campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce energy consumption, which contributes to curbing the total emissions of so-called "greenhouse gases" into the atmosphere, cited as one of the main causes of global warming and climate change. During this campaign, which involves more than 7,000 cities from over 170 countries around the world, Cementarnica USJE shuts down its facilities for an hour, thus contributing to achieving this global initiative's goal in a concrete way.
TAKING PART IN EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK
Cementarnica USJE and the company's employees regularly participate in the celebration of the European Mobility Week. Through various activities, the employees and members of the management team every year during Mobility Week try to increase public awareness of an active lifestyle in order to promote health and environmental protection.
LET'S DO IT CAMPAIGN
Encouraging the concept of corporate volunteering and guided by the commitment to environmental protection, Cementarnica USJE's employees and management team members actively participated in the realization of the Let's Do It eco-campaign to clean up waste in the Municipality of Kisela Voda.
